All Greek to Me

Samos is both creatively modern and authentically Greek but don’t just take our word for it. Journalist Kevin Raub for the New York Post has recently highlighted the many benefits of visiting Samos for your annual escape to the sun.

Samos is one of the few Greek islands to retain its charm whilst catering for the savvy tourists of today. “It's a modern northeastern Aegean island (you can nearly skip a rock to Turkey) that hasn't turned its back on tradition.”

Pythagoras’ life is shrouded in mystery and intrigue and it all began on the verdant island paradise of Samos.

Your Money Goes Further in Greece!

A survey by Skyscanner has revealed Greece to be the 2nd most competitively priced place to visit out of 30 countries surveyed.

The survey measured actual cost of living against perceived cost of living. The results show that Greece is perceived to be expensive, when in fact the reality is that Greece is actually one of the most financially economical places to visit.

Historical documents indicate that cheesecake was created during the seventh or eighth centuries B.C. on the island of Samos in Greece. Historians believe that cheesecake was even served to athletes during the first Olympic Games to supply them with the energy needed for competitions.

Greece to Upgrade Sites in Bid to Lure More Tourists, Minister Tells FTD

Greece’s government plans to spend as much as 520 million euros to upgrade tourist sites and hotels as it struggles to compete with Turkey and Egypt, the Financial Times Deutschland reported. The cash, split in origin from a European Union fund and government money, will be used to modernize building facilities.Tourism contributes about a fifth of Greece’s economic growth, the FTD said.

John Malkovich, Gerard Butler, Penelope Cruz to star blockbuster to be filmed on Samos

As ancient Greece and mythology has become the recent trend in Hollywood, the new film about mathematician-philosopher Pythagoras comes as no exclusion. Beginning in September, they will be filming in Greece, and more specifically in Samos and Delphi. At the same time, filming will take place in Belgium and Luxembourg.
